Abstract

Thromboembolism as a complication of nephrotic syndrome can occur at any site of circulation. Most thromboembolism associated with nephrotic syndrome develop in veins, especially renal veins, and rarely in arteries. Eight cases of arterial
thromboembolism being complicated in nephrotic syndrome were reported in Korea. The pathologic findings of kidney were minimal change nephrotic disease in 5 cases and membranous nephropathy in 3cases. All patients had risk factors that have been
mentioned in earlier reports, A suggestive mecha-nism of the thrombosis in the nephrotic syndrome is a hyperc-oagulable state. We experienced a case of minimal change nephrotic syndrome complicated with liver infarction and thromboses of renal
vein
and
superior mesenteric artery. We successfully per-formed massive small bowel resection, right hemicolectomy and jejunojejuncstomy and then diag-nosed the liver infarction and thrombosis of the left renal vein through some radiologic studies.
